Facilities Master Plan

Buckeye Local Schools recognizes that when it comes to educating our children, facilities matter. It is for this reason that the District is moving forward to develop a Facilities Master Plan (FMP) to identify the improvements needed to provide our students with the best education possible. However, we can’t do it without help. School and community input and involvement will be integrated in the Facilities Master Planning process. Input from our stakeholders include: Surveys, Site Meetings, Community Meetings and Board Workshops. This page will be dedicated to providing up to date information about our planning process and will also host meeting notes and presentations as they happen. If you have an interest in being involved in the process please feel free to reach out to Superintendent Jeff Harrison to be included.

What is a Facilities Master Plan?

A facilities master plan is a critical strategic document for a wide range of governmental and non-profit organizations. These plans are commonly used by public school districts, universities, healthcare networks, park systems and more to guide the long-term development and maintenance of their facilities.

Some larger organizations have ongoing FMPs that are constantly updated and renewed. For example, the University of Cincinnati has multiple ongoing master plans. Ohio State University has an ongoing plan, called Framework 2.0, to make sure their facilities meet the learning needs for today’s students.

For smaller organizations, like public school districts, the master plan is usually a finite process with a beginning and end.

What is the Process?

Buckeye Local Schools has created a relationship with Fanning and Howey to lead us through the community engagement process of creating our FMP. The first step was creating a Facilities Core Committee that will provide the leadership throughout the process. This committee is made up of community members, school employees and Board of Education Members. The individual members are listed below.
