York and Liverpool Student
Awards:
The elementary schools
have implemented a program to encourage positive behavior.
The Two programs are:
Star Student Award:
Each month teachers nominate on student that has shown some type
of overall improvement in school (grades, attitudes, citizenship,
organization, etc.). These students will be rewarded in the following
ways: name announced during morning announcements, letter sent home
to parents, picture taken and displayed in the front lobby, name
listed in the Buckeye Pride Newsletter, and lunch with the principal.
Character Counts Slips:
Each month a new character trait will be emphasized. During that
month that trait will be reinforced in the classroom. Every time
a student is caught effectively using that trait s/he will receive
a character counts slip to take home for an adult signature. The
next day, students place them in the box in the office for weekly
drawings. The word of the month is as follows:
September: Pride
October: Self-control
November: Patience
December: Caring
January: Sharing
February: Honesty
March: Forgiveness
April: Tolerance
May: Communication
Students may write a definition
of the word of the month and turn it in to the principal. One will
be chosen each day, to be read over the morning announcements.
