Students, staff & community members came together for Buckeye Local Schools’ Visioning Session #2, shaping the future of Buckeye High School! From reviewing guiding principles to hands-on design challenges, participants shared ideas that will influence our school’s learning spaces.

Dec. 10 Update
Facilities Update: At the Dec. 9 meeting, the Board of Education took the next step in the district’s facilities plan by approving CT Taylor Construction as the Construction Manager at Risk.  This follows the earlier selection of GPD Group as the project’s architect, moving us closer to a new high school and the renovation of the current building for Buckeye Junior High. Building Tomorrow Together
The Buckeye Local Schools in Medina Ohio intend to contract a highly qualified construction management firm to serve as our Construction Manager at Risk for a new High School. We will be accepting Statements of Qualifications from firms to provide construction manager at risk services.  Click HERE for full submission details and deadlines.

Buckeye Local Schools, located in Medina, Ohio, is seeking Statements of Qualifications from highly qualified architectural firms to provide professional design services for a new high school. Building Our Future
Buckeye Local Schools’ new Master Facilities Plan addresses aging buildings while providing modern learning spaces. It includes a new high school at Columbia & Wolff Roads, converting the current high school to a junior high, and demolishing the existing junior high. Campus & Facilities Update

We invite you to review the press release sent to local media on Wednesday regarding the Board of Education's actions taken on January 14, 2025. The Board has decided to seek a bond in May 2025 to construct a new high school. This plan also includes relocating our junior high students and staff to the current high school, which will be updated for their needs.

We are committed to making this a reality for our students, ensuring we create "learning environments that support today’s curriculum and prepare them for tomorrow’s careers."

Meeting #6 Recap

The Campus and Facility Task Force met again on June 20, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the High School Library to continue its work in facility planning. A summary of the master plan was shared, followed by architectural concept drawings. Additional discussion occurred regarding informational communication. Meeting #5 Recap

The Campus and Facility Task Force met on May 22, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the High School Library to continue its work in facility planning. In the meeting, the timeline for Board approval required to pursue the facilities plan was reviewed. Representatives from Fanning Howey presented exterior building concept renderings and facilitated discussion of site options and building orientation. Campus Facility Master Plan Approved

 

At the May 14th Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the Campus Facility Master Plan created by Buckeye Local Schools Campus Facility Task Force. The plan consists of two phases to address immediate and future facility needs. Phase 1 includes the construction of a new 9-12 high school with infrastructure to accommodate the addition of a 7-8 junior high school. The Board intends to proceed with Phase 1 upon successful passage of a November 2024 Bond Issue. Phase 2, which will be pursued in the future, will include the new junior high school addition. Junior high school students will attend the current high school once the new high school is built and until Phase 2 of the project (a new junior high) is completed. Learn more about the Campus Facility Master Plan by clicking HERE.

Meeting #4 Recap

The Campus and Facility Task Force met on April 25, 2024, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the High School Library to recap the group’s progress, hear from architects, and discuss the next steps for facility planning. In the meeting, a summary of the recent findings report presented to the Board of Education was shared, and Task Force members had the opportunity to provide insight and feedback. The Campus and Facility Task Force met on April 4, 2024, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the High School Library to continue discussions about potential plans and considerations for the district's facilities. The second Campus and Facility Task Force meeting convened on March 20, 2024, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the High School Library to continue discussions on the future of the district’s facilities. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence and in line with our Strategic Plan, Buckeye Local Schools is embarking on a transformative journey to revitalize our school district facilities. Our district is utilizing ongoing community engagement opportunities, and available professional resources to develop a multi-year master facilities plan to provide facilities that maximize student and staff safety, promote interaction, create engagement and magnify 21st-century learning.
